The Weihai International Port Economic and Technological Development District (Lingang district) in Weihai, Shandong province recently made the list of the province's demonstration parks for near-zero carbon development.

The district's favorable ecological environment and industrial development conditions make it an ideal location for promoting green, low-carbon, and sustainable development in Shandong.

Lingang has built a green industrial system and optimized its energy structure. Six companies here have completed the construction of green factories. The district has also established cooperation agreements with leading enterprises in new materials, new energy equipment, and the digital economy sectors.

The district is also focused on constructing a green energy system. This includes investments in zero-carbon power generation, zero-carbon enterprises, zero-carbon transportation, and zero-carbon buildings. Various green energy projects, such as distributed energy from natural gas, photovoltaic, wind power, energy storage, and charging infrastructure, are being developed to create a modern and intelligent zero-carbon energy system.

To support the construction of a near-zero carbon park, Lingang plans to leverage carbon sinks and explore the management of carbon assets. Collaborations with companies specializing in carbon sink evaluation and digital carbon asset management are underway. Lingang is also committed to promoting low-carbon technologies, reducing CO2 emissions, and gradually achieving near-zero carbon emissions. (Edited by Jiang Ting)
