Weifang city offers employment assistance to communities
The Hanting district of Weifang city, in East China's Shandong province, is boosting employment assistance in communities, to help locals find work on their doorstep – a process that began in May.
The assistance includes issuing social surveys and expanding recruitment efforts, precise and targeted skill training and entrepreneurial assistance, among other things.
In Taixiang community, Ren Yuexiang, who has been engaged in wool knitting for nearly 50 years, was invited to teach job seekers her skills.
So far, Ren has taught seven classes of weaving skills, with some of her students now earning good money through weaving products.
In addition, there are also training lessons on offer for such things as pastry making, home appliance cleaning and furniture maintenance. Based on the individual needs of the communities, immediate as well as targeted and effective employment services can be provided to locals who want jobs.
Statistics show that Hanting has to date conducted 26 online and offline micro recruitment activities and 23 training sessions. Overall, the district has trained more than 600 people. (Edited by Chen Chuxuan)
