A heavy snowfall hit Yangxin county – in East China's Shandong province on Dec 14 – but the local administrative law enforcement bureau acted swiftly, activating an emergency plan and clearing away most of the snow in the urban area overnight.
The sanitation department cleared the main roads and then the auxiliary streets. The parks department swept the roads and key areas of the urban parks and squares, while the landscaping department removed tree branches at the key sections.
More than 160 snow removal personnel, 15 snowplows and more than 80 metric tons of snow-melting agent were mobilized for the task. By noon on Dec 15, the snow removal work was well underway.
The bureau says it will continue to monitor the weather changes and ensure the safety of the urban roads and citizens. (Edited by Fan Yuanyuan)
