Weifang city gets busy making dragon lanterns for New Year

With the Chinese Dragon Year fast approaching, manufacturers in the Hanting district of Weifang city – located in East China's Shandong province – have been busy ramping up their output of dragon lanterns.

In the festive lantern factory run by Weifang Tiancheng Kites Import and Export Co Ltd, a raft of different shapes of exquisite examples are being made.

Wang Yongxun, chairman of the company and a lantern-making inheritor in Weifang, said that the dragon lanterns his company makes this year have innovated their colors and patterns.

Highlights include the tallest lantern the company fabricates. It can stand about 20 meters tall, while customers can also buy different styles of dragon lanterns that use sounds and lights as well as traditional ones. (Edited by Chen Chuxuan)
