Kumquats, or cumquats – the small citrus fruit resembling tiny oranges – are flourishing these days on the Jin Ju Yuan Family Farm in the Hedong district of Linyi city, located in East China's Shandong province.
Zhang Yuandong, head of the farm, has introduced kumquat varieties over the past few years from the southern region of the country and developed innovative cultivation techniques suitable for the northern climate.
He points out that the significant temperature differences in the north actually make his kumquats less prone to disease compared with their southern counterparts.
Currently, the farm boasts over 80,000 kumquat trees, creating a picturesque landscape that has become a source of pride for the region. (Edited by Zhou Yunlai)
