Sugar-coated haws, a beloved traditional Chinese snack dating back to the Southern Song Dynasty (1127-1279), is a winter delicacy in northern regions.

Skewered hawthorn fruits are coated with a luscious syrup, creating a delightful blend of tangy and sweet flavors.

In Xiajin county, Dezhou city, Master Zhu Zhongtao, an expert with over 30 years of experience, has perfected the art of crafting sugar-coated haws. Though he uses only traditional techniques, he has nevertheless managed to create innovative products like hawthorn snowballs.

Zhu also leverages e-commerce platforms to expand the sales of his products, and this has in turn helped his fellow villagers improve their incomes.
