Shandong master artisan amazes locals with wood carvings

Hu Yubin, a master wood carving artisan from Chengwu county – located in Heze city, in East China's Shandong province – just amazes locals with the age-old craft of shaping and sculpting wood into various forms and designs using simple cutting tools.

Stepping into his studio reveals an array of meticulously crafted wooden pieces. From intricate sculptures to diverse, lifelike forms, each work reflects the artisan's skill and passion.

Hu Yubin's journey began in childhood, when he was captivated by the work of village carpenters. This early fascination evolved into a lifelong dedication to mastering wood carving.

Now in his forties, Hu's commitment just deepens by the day. He's aiming to pass on his expertise – collaborating with other enthusiasts to ensure the enduring legacy of this fine, traditional craft. (Edited by Zhou Yunlai)
