To resist low temperatures and prevent frost damage, villagers in Miaogudian village, Menghai town, Dingtao district, Heze city, Shandong province are irrigating the wheat fields to ensure they survive the winter and lay a solid foundation for a bountiful harvest next year.
"Currently, the Yellow River has a sufficient volume of water, and these efforts will lay a solid foundation for a bountiful harvest next year," said Shi Chuanping, Party secretary of Miaogudian village.
To cope with the temperature drop expected in the coming days and prevent frost damage to the wheat, Menghai town has coordinated the release of water. Approximately 40 percent of the irrigation work has been completed in the town's approximately 4,000 hectares of wheat fields.
To ensure that the diverted Yellow River water fully nourishes the wheat fields, Menghai town has implemented rigorous measures during the winter wheat irrigation period.
To fully leverage the advantages of the agricultural irrigation system, the town has developed detailed winter irrigation plans based on the irrigation needs of each administrative village, employing early planning, layout, and arrangement strategies.
At the same time, they have promptly opened the gates for winter irrigation, ensuring the irrigation work goes smoothly. (Edited by Huang Junyao)
