Nestled by the mountains and waters, Shuiniubu village in Taishan district of Tai'an, Shandong province has taken on a new look thanks to the local government's rural vitalization efforts.

The atmosphere here is bustling even in winter due to the live streaming sales of bonsai trees and homestay tourism.

Though small in size, this village boasts a harmonious blend of urban and rural elements. To the south are high-rise buildings while to the north are the beautiful sights of Mount Tai.

Shuiniubu looked completely different just two years ago. Back then, the natural environment was poor and the collective income of villagers was low. But everything changed when Liu Jian started serving as the Party chief of the village in 2021.

Under his leadership, Shuiniupu has comprehensively developed and utilized idle resources. Today, the village has an array of tourism facilities, infrastructure and scenic sites such as the bonsai garden, tea art garden, fruit-picking garden and camping base. The annual collective income has also grown to more than 1.5 million yuan ($209,988).

Shuiniubu has also established a property management service company that assumes full responsibility for property management and environmental cleanliness within the village. This initiative has not only improved the hygiene conditions but also contributed to the collective income of the village. Over the past year, the property company generated an income of 830,000 yuan and created job opportunities for more than 60 villagers. (Edited by Ding Yuanyuan)
