As the sky began to brighten, Yang Ruke and his family from Qianyanglou village in Binhai street of Dingtao District, Heze city in Shandong province got busy in the greenhouse on Dec 8.
Yang's family had previously faced difficult living conditions. His wife suffered from a severe chronic illness and required long-term medication while their son and daughter were attending school, resulting in substantial expenses. The family's primary source of income came from cultivating a few acres of wheat and corn.
Their quality of life improved significantly after the vegetable greenhouse base was established. Yang took on the contract for two greenhouses primarily for growing vegetables such as tomatoes.
The local office invited professional technicians to guide him in scientific cultivation methods, aiming for higher yields and increased income. Once the vegetables ripened, the office helped him find sales channels to ensure a market for his produce. With improved farming techniques, his annual income reached around 100,000 yuan ($14,082).
"The vegetables in the greenhouse are growing well, and we can sell them directly after harvesting. These greenhouses have increased our farmers' income and improved our quality of life. We are grateful to the Party and the government for their care for us farmers!" exclaimed Yang excitedly.
The Binhai street neighborhood office has already established 154 various types of greenhouses in 26 villages within its jurisdiction, effectively promoting farmers' income growth and contributing to rural vitalization. (Edited by Huang Junyao)
