Shandong's county launches canteen for elderly

Ningyang county – located in Tai'an city in East China's Shandong province – launched its Happy Canteen on Dec 4 to offer delicious meals to rural elderly folks.

Situated in Zhangjiazhai village in Huafeng town, the canteen serves senior citizens aged 75 and above.

Four different nutritional food packages are provided there and customers enjoy dining discounts ranging from 6 percent to 20 percent off.

The move is widely recognized to have enhanced the happiness of older locals and helped improve the level of rural eldercare services.

Taking the Happy Canteen as a starting point, plans are for Huafeng town to make every effort to provide social services for senior citizens with care and dedication in the future. (Edited by Chen Chuxuan)
