Weicheng district in Weifang, East China's Shandong province stands as a testament to the region's rich history and picturesque landscapes. It invites both locals and travelers to explore the treasures within its ancient streets and savor its unique local flavors.
At the renowned Shihu Garden, which has a history spanning over five centuries, visitors can enjoy a captivating blend of elegance that is distinctive to traditional gardens in southern China and a simple architectural style usually seen in northern China.
Within the historic Wanyin Tower, which literally means "ten thousand seals tower", built by the celebrated epigrapher Chen Jieqi during the Qing Dynasty (1644-1911), a treasure trove of cultural relics awaits, offering a profound experience of Chinese civilization.
Art enthusiasts can explore the allure at the former residence of the Chinese painting master Guo Weiqu, known as Shuyuan Garden, where the essence of Chinese art is vividly showcased. Meanwhile, at Songyuanzi, a block of traditional dwelling houses, one can uncover the city's memories and folk customs of days gone by.
Adding to the cultural exploration, Weicheng offers a variety of culinary delights, including the flavorful Rouhuoshao (roasted flatbread stuffed with meat), Hele (a kind of noodles), and Chaotian Pot. (Edited by Zhao Luyang)
