Located in Laiwu district, Jinan, Wanglao village has emerged as a prime example of rural revitalization in the region.

Surrounded by mountains and blessed with a scenic water view, this village has specifically developed its natural charm to cultivate a thriving rural tourism sector.

Over a decade ago, the village embarked on a transformative journey, began capitalizing on its scenic beauty to develop rural tourism. Through meticulous planning, it replaced mud cottages with 99 rows of Hui-style villas, a type of traditional Chinese architecture, benefitting 126 households.

Diversifying into agriculture, the village established a 40-hectare, or 600-mu, high-quality picking garden.

These efforts have led to a flourishing tourism industry. The village's rural camping site has become a sought-after destination, especially during peak seasons, with accommodations, coveted stone house inns in particular, in high demand.

Recognizing the potential for collective growth, the village established a cooperative for rural tourism.

With an application for a municipal-level study base in Jinan, the village aims to offer tourists a comprehensive experience while boosting incomes for its residents, thereby paving the path toward economic development and prosperity.
