The Lanshan district of Linyi city – located in East China's Shandong province – has been promoting the application of the internet of things in agriculture, ensuring the safe production of protected crops.
This year, the district has invested about 6 million yuan ($84,415) in the promotion of agricultural IoT technology, involving a smart agricultural project covering in total of 2,000 mu (133.33 hectares).
At the Yunbo fruit and vegetable planting cooperative, farmers were busy planting tomato seedlings in the modern greenhouse on Nov 22.
"Intelligent methods are indispensable for tomatoes to grow well," said Hu Fake, the cooperative director.
He added that the integration of water and fertilizer and IoT technology covered an area of 120 mu in his cooperative, saving the labor of 500 workers annually.
The cooperative possesses an information intelligent monitoring system to precisely control planting indexes including temperature, humidity, light and carbon dioxide concentrations.
Lanshan district has increased its financial investment in supporting agriculture at all levels to boost modern smart agriculture and add new momentum to its rural vitalization. (Edited by Chen Chuxuan)
