Shandong artisans inherit art of pyrography
The art of pyrography has been revived in Juye county, located in East China's Shandong province.
Artisans there have combined brush painting techniques with burning techniques to create wonderful bamboo pieces.
Using bamboo as a substitute for paper and a burning-pen as a substitute for a regular pen, these artists create lifelike and natural peonies, landscapes and characters on the bamboo.

This unique technique gives ordinary objects a unique aesthetic charm and collectors and art investors are showing great interest in these artworks.
One local artist, Tian Shuo, has been flooded with orders from customers from central China's Henan province. He's created thousands of examples of such artwork, with each piece involving a meticulous attention to detail.
Tian began learning the art of pyrography in 2018 and has since dedicated himself to the craft.
His work has gained widespread praise on various media platforms and has attracted collectors from across the country.
He's now exploring and studying the application of various techniques, such as color carving and fire carving, to further the tradition of Chinese crafts.
By upholding the quality of excellence and pursuing perfection, Tian hopes to create more and better works to inherit and promote traditional Chinese culture. (Edited by Jin Yongxue)
