In this video, artists from Linqing city – administered by Liaocheng city in East China's Shandong province – demonstrate how to paint exquisite lotus and orchid flowers on circular fans.
As a traditional handicraft of China's Han ethnic group, the circular fan represents reunion, friendliness, and good luck. The frame and handle are usually made of bamboo, with the surface made of pure white silk.
Lotus and orchid flowers possess many meanings in Chinese culture, such as innocence, elegance and holiness. (Edited by Chen Chuxuan)
