County in Shandong aims for booming educational services sector

The Fourth China (Liangshan) Education Book Information Industry Development Conference commenced on Nov 19 in Liangshan county, Jining, East China's Shandong province.
Government officials, experts, scholars, and entrepreneurs from the book publishing and education sectors across the country gathered at the event to explore development paths for the educational book industry, aiming to propel the industry's restructuring and transformation.
During the conference, the Liangshan government and the Beijing Institute of Graphic Communication signed a framework agreement on the introduction of talent and industry-academia collaboration. Project signing ceremonies involving companies including Shandong Jinbangyuan Culture Media Co Ltd were also held.
Liangshan's educational services sector, featuring advanced technology, has built a positive reputation in the market and boasts strong competitiveness, said Dong Bing, vice-mayor of Jining. Home to more than 40 printing companies, Liangshan has seen supplemental books with a total price exceeding 22 billion yuan ($3.08 billion) sold. Sales of digital educational products achieved 1.8 billion yuan.
This flourishing industry has not only benefited numerous students but also stimulated the local economy, said Dong, who added that the city hopes to build a leading educational services industrial cluster with the aid of the conference. (Edited by Zhao Luyang)
