Shandong district blazes trail of increasing farmers' income
Miaoshan town in Laiwu district, Jinan, capital of Shandong province, plans to launch a project titled common prosperity for villages to help increase the income of local farmers.
With a total investment of 4.9 million yuan ($688,000) and a designed occupied area of 21 mu (1.4 hectares), the project will introduce five processing and production lines for potato chips, bean starch sheets, rice noodles, stone-ground flour, and buns.
The project is expected to generate more than 3 million yuan per year in operating revenue, increase the collective income of five villages by 500,000 yuan each year, and offer more than 300 jobs to local farmers.
Since 2022, the usage rights of more than 500 mu of land in Miaoshan town have been transferred to farmers from other places and economic organizations, which has brought over 1.5 million yuan in operating revenue, increased the collective income of two villages by 200,000 yuan, and provided over 200 jobs to local residents.
