Rural libraries enrich villagers' cultural lives
Lanshan district in Linyi city, East China's Shandong province, has built 301 rural libraries to meet the burgeoning demand of villagers to read and study.
As an important carrier of rural culture, these venues serve to improve villagers' quality of life and cultivate more cultural talents.
With over 1,800 inhabitants, Xiaaigu village in Bancheng town in Lanshan district is now equipped with a 95-square-meter library, which can accommodate over 60 people at the same time.
Jiang Zhaoyong, a local in Bancheng, said he has continued to improve his planting techniques by getting new ideas from some of the books there.
"Whenever I encounter difficulties in terms of planting technology, I come here to pick up new knowledge from some books," he said, adding that rural libraries can solve real problems for farmers.
Moreover, Lanshan villagers can offer suggestions on whatever books they like, so that rural libraries will purchase books that meet the daily needs, reading preferences, cultural level, and personal tastes of local villagers. (Edited by Chen Chuxuan)
