Shandong county boosts its nighttime economy
To boost growth and local consumer spending, Yanggu county – in Liaocheng city in East China's Shandong province – has undertaken steps to develop its nighttime economy.
The Shizi Building scenic area in the county has been transformed into a vibrant after-dark precinct – complete with rows of food stalls, lively music and vibrant lighting.
As a result, a recently food and culture festival there attracted hordes of tourists from both local and surrounding areas.

Recognizing the significance of spending in people's lives and in wider economic development, Yanggu has actively sought to improve and expand the pattern of nighttime consumption.
The county aims to create appealing and attractive after-dark shopping areas and markets and has implemented a range of initiatives to promote the economy and boost consumer spending.
By focusing on the local history and culture, Yanggu county is accelerating the development of support facilities, improving service levels, refining management concepts and planning urban renewal projects to cultivate new forms of consumption. (Edited by Jin Yongxue)
