Shandong's district boosts its eldercare services
The Laishan district of Yantai city – located in East China's Shandong province – is widely said to stand out for its commitment to improving the overall well-being of its elderly residents.
One notable achievement this year has been the establishment of a comprehensive service center in its Chujia subdistrict. This seeks to leverage digital technology to assist senior citizens to integrate into modern life.

Through a sophisticated big data platform, the service center monitors the safety and health of elderly individuals living alone. It provides real-time warnings of any urgent conditions, along with one-click call support and regular check-ins. This initiative ensures that residents who opt to be home-based get essential services, guaranteeing their safety and well-being.
What's more, the center offers online access to community cultural activities, including education and counseling. This digital inclusion enriches the lives of older residents, contributing to their happiness and sense of security.
Within its on-site services, the center adopts various eldercare models that cover nine major functions – including daytime care, cultural and entertainment activities, health-focused restaurants and medical care.
The ultimate goal is to provide a safe, convenient and comfortable living environment for the elderly in the region. (Edited by Zhou Yunlai)
