Chrysanthemums drive rural vitalization in Dezhou's county
Farmers in Wucheng county in Dezhou city – located in East China's Shandong province – are busy right now harvesting chrysanthemums, with cultivating the flower being seen as a key driver for the area's economy.
In Jiamaying village, golden chrysanthemums in a special planting area are in full bloom, gently swaying in the breeze.
Litong farm in the village has transferred over 100 mu (6.67 hectares) of land to chrysanthemum cultivation and has developed a planting model focusing on tourist viewing, tasting and medicine.
To extend the industry supply chain, the farm is also equipped with drying equipment, serving a model of planting, processing and sales.
The output value from golden chrysanthemums grown at Litong farm is expected to reach around 30,000 yuan ($4,116) this year, with the crop employing more than 100 people. (Edited by Chen Chuxuan)
