Intangible cultural heritage meets Tang Dynasty style in Laiwu

On Nov 8, the 2023 Jinan·Laiwu People Beneficial Cultural and Tourist Consumption Season·ICH Garden Party presented an enchanting blend of intangible cultural heritage and Tang Dynasty style in Dulu village, Dawangzhuang town, Laiwu district, Shandong province. The event featured a harmonious pairing of rural vitalization cultural consultants with central villages.

The opening ceremony of the 2023 Jinan·Laiwu People Beneficial Cultural and Tourist Consumption Season·ICH Garden Party & the pairing event of rural vitalization cultural consultants with central villages is held in Dulu village, Dawangzhuang town, Laiwu district, Shandong province.

Visitors immersed themselves in the local culture, experiencing Laiwu Bangzi Opera, Woodblock New Year Paintings, Kouzhen Sausage, traditional sun-dried tea and more. The festivities included traditional Hanfu fashion shows, cultural heritage performances and ancient-style games. This blend of intangible cultural heritage and Tang Dynasty elements made for a unique cultural immersion.

Dulu village boasts its 2,600-year-old Tianmen Pass of the Great Wall of Qi and the scenic Linhai Grassland. Within its jurisdiction, the Tang Dynasty Chestnut Garden stands as a testament to ancient history, nurturing over 127 chestnut trees, each with a legacy spanning more than a thousand years. Notably, one of these trees, aged over 1,300 years, holds the prestigious title of the "Top 10 Tree Kings" in Jinan. It is recognized as a plant under national first-level protection.

Noteworthy is Laiwu district's comprehensive intangible cultural heritage, spanning folk literature, traditional arts, craftsmanship, folklore, drama, dance, medicine and more. Boasting 280 projects, the district showcases the breadth, value and popularity of its intangible cultural heritage.

Wang Meiling, a member of the CPC Laiwu District Culture and Tourism Bureau committee and deputy director of the bureau, said: "We host the event, allowing everyone to truly experience the unique charm of traditional culture through uplifting drum performances, captivating Hanfu fashion shows, collaborations, e-commerce support and cultural benefits for the people."
