Retired vets, wives celebrate golden weddings in Shandong

Nine couples of retired soldiers and their spouses recently celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary in Yangxin county, Binzhou city in East China's Shandong province.

The event was held to mark the 80th anniversary of the Yan'an Double Support Movement, a campaign launched by the Communist Party of China in 1943 to mobilize the people to support the army and the army to support the people.

The veterans, all aged over 70, wore military uniforms and held flowers as they walked towards their beloved partners, who shared their joys and sorrows for half a century.

They expressed their love and gratitude to each other and received warm wishes from their children and the local community.

The event also featured various cultural performances, such as Lyuju Opera, a local folk art form and songs and dances. (Edited by Fan Yuanyuan)
