Shandong's township enjoys thriving rural economy
The Xuyang Cup Yellow River Ecological Marathon took place on Oct 15 in the Dongming Yellow River Wetland Park in Jiaoyuan township – nestling in Dongming county, in Heze city in East China's Shandong province.
The event was one of many efforts the township has made in recent years to enhance its ecological surroundings and diversify its rural economy.
Earlier this year, the local government of Jiaoyuan township partnered with Shandong Shuifa Group Co Ltd – a leading State-owned enterprise specializing in water-related services – to utilize idle land in 10 villages to cultivate organic crop seedlings.
Over a five-year cycle, the projects are expected to improve local living conditions and increase the incomes of residents.
What's more, Jiaoyuan township – taking advantage of its natural resources – has accelerated the development of Dongming Yellow River National Wetland Park.
The goal is to transform it into a versatile tourism hub that includes sports and fitness facilities, leisure and entertainment options, dining outlets, accommodation and immersive cultural experiences.
Currently, 32 businesses have involved themselves in the venture, with a total sale 2 million yuan ($273,368) in the first half of the year. (Edited by Zhou Yunlai)
