Shandong county promotes cultural heritage
In a bid to boost tourism and promote its cultural heritage, Yanggu county – located in East China's Shandong province – has launched a series of academic study tours based on the Water Margins, one of the four great classical novels of Chinese literature.
The projects aim to showcase the cultural significance of the Water Margins and combine it with local traditional intangible cultural heritage and folklore.
Tourists and students, participating in the study tours, have the opportunity to explore local scenic spots and also engage in activities such as shadow play and trying their hand at woodblock prints.

In their wake, Yanggu county has seen an increase in the number of academic tours visiting the area.
The influx of tourists has not only contributed to the high-quality development of the tourism industry, but also further enhanced the water margin cultural tourism brand.
The initiative by Yanggu county to promote its water margin cultural tourism brand is expected to attract even more visitors in the future.
The combination of immersive experiences, cultural education and the exploration of local traditions is expected to continue to be a draw for tourists, contributing to the overall growth and development of the local tourism industry. (Edited by Jin Yongxue)
