Special Shandong pancakes are hot sellers across nation

Pancakes are a popular food in East China's Shandong province – especially in rural areas – and Zhujiayu village in Linqu county is one of the places where pancakes are widely produced and consumed.

The village has a family farm pancake production team that makes high-quality pancakes with local ingredients.

The production team was founded by Zeng Yong, a young farmer who wanted to turn pancakes into a village collective industry.

He recruited idle laborers, bought machines and equipment and set up workshops for raw materials processing, pancake making, sorting and packaging.

The team uses mixed grains – such as corn, millet, oats, rice and red beans – to make pancakes.

The grain is ground into flour by stone mills and then mixed with water to form a batter. The batter is then poured onto hot pans and spread evenly into thin cakes. The pancakes are then steamed, dried and sealed in bags.

The team sells its pancakes online through live broadcasts and e-commerce platforms. With the help of the county and town governments, it's gained popularity and a reputation across the country. Many customers praise the pancakes for their taste, texture and nutrition.

Zeng Yong said he plans to expand the production base and push green ecological mixed grain pancakes into the high-end market. He hopes to enable more consumers to enjoy the deliciousness of Linqu pancakes and share the hometown flavors of Shandong. (Edited by Fan Yuanyuan)
