Apples sweeten life in Tai'an city
Farmers in Jiuxian village – located in Dongping county, Tai'an city, East China's Shandong province – started picking golden apples recently with the arrival of the harvest season.
Delectable apples were hanging on the branches everywhere at the Venus golden apple planting base there, with 1,400 mu (93.33 hectares) under cultivation.
The facility is equipped with modern management patterns, such as drip irrigation and watering, as well as the integration of water and fertilizers.
During the fruiting period, the production capacity per mu can reach over 2,500 kilograms and the annual income per mu can reach 60,000 yuan ($8,213).
To date, Jiuxian village has established three commercial forests and orchards, with a combined planting area of 4,300 mu.
Plans are for the village to further extend its industrial supply chains to promote the integrated development of the fruit and tourism industries. (Edited by Chen Chuxuan)
