Expats are moved by visit to memorial hall in Shandong
The publicity department of Shanxian county – located in Heze city in East China's Shandong province – recently hosted a fascinating series of events, entitled Exploring Shandong: Expats' Perception of Shanxian County.
The latest event invited expats living or working in the county to visit the Huxi Revolutionary History Memorial Hall.
Huxi – situated at the crossroads of Shandong, Jiangsu, Henan and Anhui provinces – holds a significant place in history as one of the earliest strongholds of the Communist Party of China during the War of Resistance against Japanese Aggression (1931-45) and the War of Liberation (1946-49).
The Huxi Revolutionary History Memorial Hall boasts a total floor space topping 5,000 square meters, including an exhibition hall covering more than 4,800 sq m.
Through various means – such as large sculptures, huge oil paintings, informative display boards, historical artifacts, multimedia presentations and film screenings – it comprehensively showcases Huxi's stories about the War of Resistance against Japanese Aggression and the War of Liberation.
This provides a glimpse into the unwavering spirit of the local people and soldiers, their commitment to the Party and the nation and their indomitable will.

Thanks to the event, expats had the opportunity to witness the remarkable resilience and determination of the people of Shanxian county as they faced invasion and adversity – whose efforts ultimately led to victory.
"I used to hear Chinese revolutionary stories from my Chinese friends," said one visitor for Pakistan.
"This time, visiting the memorial hall, I finally saw it with my own eyes," he added. (Edited by Zhou Yunlai)
