In the Laishan district of Yantai city – located in East China's Shandong province – lies a secluded village of great beauty, known as Zhuliu village.
This place resembles a fairy tale world, allowing you to revisit your childhood memories and get close to your beloved cartoon characters.
The entire village boasts walls adorned with cartoon paintings featuring characters from Chinese, Japanese and American comics, as well as reproductions of the Dunhuang murals – a collection of ancient Buddhist wall paintings and sculptures found in the Mogao Caves in China's Northwest Gansu province.
The paintings are said to offer a chronological journey through the history of animation from the 1970s, 80s and 90s to the 2000s – evoking a strong sense of nostalgia for visitors of all ages. (Edited by Zhou Yunlai)
