Family doctors offer more efficient, personal services to locals
The Lanshan district of Linyi city, in East China's Shandong province, has been promoting the high-quality development of family doctors – making it much more convenient for locals to benefit from medical services.
Family doctors give medical consultations to residents and conduct telephone follow-ups with them, as well as provide door-to-door services to key members of the local population.
The health center in Bancheng town in Lanshan district is a prime example of promoting family doctor services.
"Our health center now has about 68,000 signed-up residents, with a signing-up rate of 84 percent," said Tan Zengliang, director of the center's public health office.
As a family doctor, Song Fang visited villager Xu Siyou on Oct 7. Based on his physical condition, Song added blood sugar measurement items to the routine examinations.
On the wall of Xu's house, a piece of paper records Song's visit time and follow-ups.
In Song's view, only by reaching out personally to the residents can she better understand their needs and provide them with a great service.
Currently, a total of 507 family doctor service teams have been established in Lanshan district, achieving full coverage of the village residences. (Edited by Chen Chuxuan)
