Italian delegation explores cultural county in Shandong

Ningjin county – administered by Dezhou city, located in East China's Shandong province – recently hosted a delegation from the town and commune of Anagni, outside Rome in Italy, for a visit and cultural exchanges.

The delegation, led by Anagni's mayor Daniele Natalia, toured various cultural and industrial attractions in Ningjin.

They were impressed by the county's fascinating sport of cricket fighting, as well as its rich wood carving art and sports industry development. They also learned about the history and customs of the local people.

At a symposium, the two sides exchanged gifts and expressed their wish to strengthen cooperation and friendship. Ningjin county presented the delegation with an example of pyrography or wood-burning artwork, a form of intangible cultural heritage in Dezhou city.

Ningjin is a nationally recognized cultural county with a long and splendid history. It is home to many folk arts, such as acrobatics, cricket fighting and solid wood furniture making.

The county signed a friendly cooperation agreement with Anagni in April this year. The two sides plan to deepen their collaboration in fields such as precision machinery, high-end medical equipment and high-end furniture manufacturing, as well as cultural exchanges. (Edited by Fan Yuanyuan)
