The product test center for Electronic Information Technology in the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology, or MIIT – located in Weihai city in East China's Shandong province – is boosting local businesses.

It recently conducted electromagnetic compatibility tests on a medical device in its shielded laboratory. This was said to mark a significant shift in how local businesses, like WEGO Qiquan Medical Equipment Co Ltd, conduct their product testing.

Not long ago, local businesses had to transport their equipment to locations such as Yantai city in the province for testing, which took at least a week.

Queueing and potential retesting due to issues could further delay the process, resulting in high time and logistics costs. However, with the services now provided by the product test center in Weihai, overheads have been reduced by one third.

For engineers like Li Erpeng, from WEGO Qiquan Medical Equipment Co Ltd, this reduces the time spent sending products for testing and lowers transportation costs, particularly for large equipment.

Equally important is the high-quality test results provided by the center, which instills confidence in businesses.

What's more, if defects are discovered during testing, the center offers solutions and guidance to help businesses optimize their products.

To date, the center has provided essential technical support for players in key industries – such as electronics information and smart equipment, with a wide customer base – including WEGO Group, Jabil Inc and Weihai Xili Electronics Co Ltd. (Edited by Zhou Yunlai)
