Tai'an farmers gather bumper harvest of peaches
Dongping county in Tai'an city, East China's Shandong province, recently welcomed a bumper harvest of peaches, which are proving hugely popular in the market.
Over 100 mu (6.67 hectares) of peach trees can be seen in Peizhai village's peach plantation, located in Pengji sub-district.
From the end of June to the National Day holiday at the start of this month, peach varieties such as Youpan 7, Zhongyou 8, Qiutong, and Jinqiu Hongmi have gradually matured, making for a protracted peach harvest.
In terms of planting technology, all peaches are bagged after bearing fruit to reduce the harm caused by diseases and pests, as well as pesticide residues.
Planter Zhao Yandong is satisfied with his bountiful harvest. "Thanks to the good weather this year, the amount and market price of peaches have gone up compared to last year," he said.
In recent years, Dongji sub-district has been promoting the large-scale and green planting of fruits such as peaches and watermelons, giving the local fruit industry a lead in promoting rural vitalization. (Edited by Chen Chuxuan)
