Linyi's 'water buses' empower local tourism
Lanshan district in Linyi city, East China's Shandong province, opened its Water Bus Route 1 on Sept 16, with two more routes planned in a bid to boost the development of local tourism.
Just before the opening ceremony got underway, four pleasure-boats set sail to ply the route. Route 1 shuttles passengers from the Calligraphy Square Pier to Phoenix Square Pier, with each boat able to accommodate up to 88 people.
The route covers a total distance of 5 kilometers and the rides have an estimated travel time of 25 minutes.
Since the start of this year, Lanshan district has been building a Shuiyun Langya project in its central urban water areas, comprising three cultural and tourism sectors.
Water transportation is an important way of connecting all three, with a total of three planned routes and 12 docks.
By optimizing and linking the coastal lighting infrastructure, colorful night views of Yihe River are made available for locals and tourists alike. Rich and colorful experiences such as water dining and cultural performances will also be provided.
Looking ahead, Lanshan district will accelerate the construction of supporting facilities such as docks and stops along the line, arrange shifts reasonably and improve the quality of operations. (Edited by Chen Chuxuan)
