In the run-up to graduation season, the Laishan district of Yantai city in East China's Shandong province is again bustling with college graduates who are on the hunt for jobs.

To provide a welcoming environment for these young folks, 11 youth hostels in the area have prepared themselves fully – offering comprehensive services that include free lodging, employment guidance, policy briefings and support with fitting into the city.

So far, the youth hostels have accommodated over 160 graduates who have gone on job interviews with local businesses and institutions in the district.

By leveraging the advantages of its surrounding business districts, Laishan also offers personalized services for the graduates staying at the hostels – including dining, transportation, leisure activities and social interactions.

Activities like Exploring Laishan have been organized to enable them to get a look at the district's key enterprises and projects – to see for themselves the rapid improvements in the quality of living, infrastructure and high-tech industries – with the ultimate goal of helping them fit in, enjoy and stay there.

What's more, Laishan has conducted various activities to help talent enter the big wide world. These include regular employment seminars, entrepreneurship training sessions and career development exchange events. After their hostel stay, the district continues to assist them through a follow-up service system, which involves connecting them with potential employers and gathering feedback on their job search experiences.

Moving forwards, plans are for Laishan district to build more high-quality youth hostels and improve their management systems – to attract more skilled individuals to the area for employment opportunities, entrepreneurship and a better life. (Edited by Zhou Yunlai)
