Liaocheng artist creates exquisite circular fan painting

The Yellow River runs through nine cities in East China's Shandong province and flows into the sea, bringing vitality and prosperity to the land. Along its banks, numerous intangible cultural heritage projects have been created and inherited, reflecting the colorful scenery, brilliant culture and rich diversity of Shandong. Shandong is a province with a long history and a splendid civilization. It boasts 186 national-level intangible cultural heritage projects, ranking it second in the country. An artist in Linqing city – administered by Liaocheng city in East China's Shandong province – recently showed how to draw exquisite flowers on a circular fan.

As a traditional handicraft of the Han ethnic group, the circular fan represents reunion, friendliness and good luck.

The frame and handle of the fan are mostly made of bamboo, with the fan surface made of pure white silk and embroidered with landscape motifs such as mountains, rivers, insects, flowers and birds. (Edited by Chen Chuxuan)
