Latest NEC projectors

NEC has added four more models to its VT series of portable projectors. The NEC VT47 ($2,815), VT470 ($3,255), and VT670 ($4,620), are brighter than the previous models and offer better keystone correction.

The NEC VT47 and VT470 are both SVGA (800 x 600 native resolution) projectors, with a brightness of 1,500 lumens and 2,000 lumens, respectively. The higher resolution VT670 (1,024 x 768 native) has a brightness of 2,100 lumens.

For those who need the best, the MT1075 ($12,600) is a 4,200-lumens installation projector with a variety of lenses for flexibility when placing the projector in any position imaginable.

Samsung SPH-V5400

Fancy a mobile phone with a hard disk drive? The Samsung SPH-V5400 has a 1.5GB hard drive and a megapixel camera. The phone boasts a 2.2-inch HiRes LCD screen with an MP3 player, an e-book reader, and dictionary. A built-in microphone enhances the camcorder, while dual speakers provide 3D sound. Local phone buffs will have to wait for now; the gizmo is only available in Korea.

Prolink's new modem

Prolink's 1456U 56K USB modem ($39) takes advantage of the higher bandwidth offered by a USB connection instead of the aging serial port. Features include modem on hold, and the ability to send data upstream at up to 48Kbps.

Prolink have also introduced the PSW808 eight-port switch ($39) with eight 100Mbps RJ-45 ports. It also allows auto MDI/MDIX crossover for plug and play.
