Zhejiang village spotlights its graffiti art

Jinmankeng village in Tiantai county, East China's Zhejiang province, has made itself known as a graffiti village by turning a six kilometer road into a canvas for graffiti artists.

The endeavor is to boost local tourism. And it has been very effective as it is reported that over 940,000 visitors have come to this artistic village in 2015, a 75.8 percent year-on-year increase. Tourism has brought an income of 5.2 million yuan ($800,000) to the area. Rural residences have become popular with tourists who want to experience village life.

The village head said that there are over 50,000 square meters' of walls available for painting.

"We aim at hosting more graffiti competitions and walking competitions to make this village a place for ecotourism as well as a field trip destination for ecological education."
