Foreign Minister Wang Yi said on Wednesday that the ministry and its overseas missions have worked closely with the relevant authorities to bring back more than 2,500 fugitives from over 90 countries and regions on charges of corruption and economic crime.

Among them, 38 were on the list of 100 most wanted persons, he told a news conference on Wednesday during the two sessions.

According to Wang, China has concluded extradition treaties and mutual judicial assistance treaties with 70 countries in the world, knitting a web that largely covers all the major countries on all continents.

"The foreign ministry will continue to do its best to shatter the illusion of any offenders, and make them understand that there is no safe heaven abroad and they cannot escape justice wherever they may be," he said.
