Li arrives in Macao to boost ties with Portuguese-speaking countries

Premier Li Keqiang arrives at the Macao International Airport on Monday as he starts his three-day trip to the special administrative region to discuss economic cooperation with leaders of seven Portuguese-speaking countries.

Li will attend the 5th Ministerial Conference of the Forum for Economic and Trade Cooperation between China and Portuguese-speaking Countries (Macao), a body also known as Forum Macao that will kick off on Tuesday and last until Wednesday.

Premier Li is expected to deliver a keynote speech at the opening ceremony at the forum on Tuesday morning. The event will be officiated by Minister of Commerce Gao Hucheng, according to the official website of Forum Macao.

Delegations from the seven Portuguese-speaking countries will attend the ministerial conference, during which Premier Li is expected to meet with foreign leaders such as Portuguese Prime Minister Antonio Costa and Mozambican Prime Minister Carlos Agostinho do Rosario.

Premier Li will also meet with the special administrative region’s officials and representatives from different circles during his stay in Macao.
