BRASILIA - China has a bright future since its ruling communist party has shown great leadership in managing the country, Brazilian Senator Inacio Arruda said on Monday.

"In the past decade, China has been facing complicated situations and severe challenges," the lawmaker from the Communist Party of Brazil told Xinhua in an interview.

"However, China has successfully addressed those challenges under the leadership of the Communist Party of China (CPC), and has made enormous achievements in social and economic development, " Arruda said.

The Brazilian senator said he was mostly impressed by China's rise to become the world's second largest economy just after the United States during a period when it weathered through the global financial crisis and complex domestic situations in which new problems kept cropping up.

During the international financial crisis, the Chinese government has invested heavily in the country's less-developed western regions through redistribution of wealth in order to narrow the social gap and development gap between regions, Arruda said.

At the same time, Beijing is speeding up the transformation of China's economic growth mode, he said.

The implementation and success of all these policies have not only provided a great example for the world, but also showcased the superiority of the socialist system, the Brazilian lawmaker said.

As domestic and international situations keep changing, the CPC needs to upgrade China's economic structure, inject new vitality to its economic growth, manage to resolve new problems as they emerge, and build new balance in its social development, Arruda said.

In the international arena, the CPC also needs to address various challenges emerging after China's rise, he said.

Through reform, innovation and continued efforts, China has the ability to continue its path of socialism, Arruda said. "The economic and social achievements China has made in its pursuit of socialism with the Chinese characteristics are a treasure for the international communist movement."
