The "Second-hand shopping to save the earth" campaign by ershou.taobao.com
China's most popular online shopping site Taobao launched a campaign to inspire online shoppers to trade in second-hand goods on World Earth Day, April 22, 2012.
A staff member of ershou.taobao.com, a second-hand trading platform of Taobao, said that research shows 5.7 kilograms of carbon dioxide emissions are reduced by purchasing an old shirt instead of a new one.
Statistic from ershou.taobao.com shows that more than 600,000 second-hands goods are recycled every month.
