Chongqing will further help prevent domestic violence as a part of the "Peace Chongqing project", according to a source from the Chongqing Committee of Social Comprehensive Management and Women's Federation, on Tuesday.

Chongqing, China's largest municipality, set up 2,593 places to make domestic violence complaints, and plans to establish a fundamental anti-domestic violence service system to cover the whole city by 2013, said Xie Xiaoxi, vice president of Chongqing Women's Federation.

"With our endeavor, the number of domestic violence cases has declined in recent years." Xie added.

On Oct 2, 2011, Chongqing became China's first local government to schedule anti-domestic violence in the cause of defending civic legal rights and integrated the departments of police, justice and civic affairs to promote the Peace Chongqing project. It was also one of the first cities to publish local legislation to fight domestic violence in 2006.
