Fortune 500 enterprises settle in Chengdu

On Feb 15, 2012, a signing ceremony for the settlement of Fortune 500 and other international renowned enterprises was held in Chengdu, the provincial capital of Sichuan province. Fortune 500 enterprises DuPont, Adecco, Evonik Degussa and the world renowned enterprise Sunmach signed the investment agreement with Jinjiang district, declaring their official settlement in Chengdu.

Ranking 285th among Fortune Global 500 enterprises, DuPont offers a wide range of innovative products and services. This includes agriculture, building construction, communications and transportation in approximately 90 countries. DuPont plans to set up its southwest sales office in Jinjiang district. The new branch office is scheduled to operate within the first half of 2012.

As a world leading provider of human resource (HR) solutions, Adecco has had its subsidiaries in Beijing, Shanghai and Guangzhou. It has also decided to establish a legal-person human resources service company in Chengdu.

Evonic Degussa is dedicated to developing markets in West China and is going to set up its subsidiary covering businesses there.

The American investment company Sunmach signed a cooperation agreement with Jinjiang district. The company’s global financial consultant company Rothschild family plans to invest $1 billion in Chengdu’s real estate industry and other fields.

Sunmach will build an optical electron production line of polyester and engineering plastic film with an investment of $500 million. It will also build its west headquarters building in Jinjiang district of Chengdu.

An official of Jinjiang district said attracting investment is a practice in accordance with the open strategy put forward by the Chengdu municipal government, creating a promising start to opening West China to the outside world

In 2011, Jinjiang district used an actual foreign investment of $1.1 billion, a year-on-year increase of 50 percent. It signed 33 major projects and attracted investments from seven Fortune Global 500 enterprises. For 2012, Jinjiang district plans to use more than $1 billion of actual foreign investment and bring in five other Fortune Global 500 enterprises.
