WUHAN - Six people died and three were injured after a small truck plunged off a cliff on Thursday in the central province of Hubei, local authorities said Friday.

The truck carrying nine people, three more than it was safe to carry, lost control in a small village in Xianfeng county. Five people died at the scene and another died in hospital, police said.

An investigation into the accident is underway.
