China, Turkmenistan pledge to promote ties(Xinhua)

Wen said the two countries should deepen their economic and trade cooperation for mutual benefit and win-win results, and he called for the early start of the mechanism of a mixed economic and trade commission so as to make overall planning for bilateral economic and trade cooperation. Both countries should give full play to their advantages and expand cooperation in such fields as economy and trade, energy, telecommunication, transportation, textile and agriculture, he said, noting that efforts should be made to ensure the success of the agreed joint projects and raise the overall level of bilateral economic and trade ties to a new height. Wen also suggested that the two nations expand humanities exchange and deepen their traditional friendship. More cultural festivals and art exhibits should be held to boost exchanges in education and sports, especially between the young generation of the two countries. He also maintained that the two nations should strengthen cooperation on regional security issues by implementing in real earnest the agreement on combating the Three Evil Forces (terrorism, extremism and separatism) so as to promote peace, stability and harmony in the region. Calling Turkmenistan an important nation in central Asia, Wen said China appreciates the country's policy of permanent neutrality, adding that China favors the establishment of a U.N. Regional Center for Preventive Diplomacy in Ashgabat, Turkmenistan. |
