HANGZHOU -- At least 30 people were swept away by the tide in east China's Zhejiang Province on Thursday, and searchers have found only 22 so far.

The tide swept away a crowd of tourists and locals at around 4:00 pm at the Qiantang River mouth on the coast, said an official with the Qiantang River Navigation Administration.

Rescue workers said the people who were swept away were either swimming or walking on the levees.
