Demonstrators gather in front of the National Diet Building in Tokyo, Japan, on Tuesday to voice opposition to war and to defend the country's pacifist Constitution on the 80th anniversary of its promulgation. The rally drew about 14,000 people amid growing concerns over Japanese Prime Minister Sanae Takaichi's push for constitutional revision and military expansion. Japan's current Constitution, which was promulgated on Nov 3, 1946, is known as the "pacifist Constitution" for its Article 9, which renounces war as a sovereign right and the threat or use of force in settling international disputes.
