Shanghai athletics team partners with ASICS to boost elite training and sports development
The Shanghai Track and Field Sports Center forged a strategic partnership with sportswear brand ASICS at the SPD Bank Oriental Sports Center on Thursday, with the collaboration covering professional equipment, scientific training and talent cultivation to drive Shanghai's athletics growth.
Under the agreement, ASICS will supply customized professional gear aligned with the demands of different athletics events. New exclusive team uniforms, unveiled by athletes at the ceremony, use lightweight, breathable and quick-drying high-stretch racing fabric to suit both training and competition. The brand will also deliver systematic and scientific training support in physical testing, running instruction, strength conditioning, sports rehabilitation, nutrition and sports psychology.
Athletes and coaches who delivered strong results at the 2026 Aichi-Nagoya Asian Games were also honored at the event.
Founded in 1953, the Shanghai athletics team has produced iconic athletes including Zhu Jianhua and Liu Xiang, with rising talents such as Song Jiayuan and Su Wen now active on domestic and global stages. ASICS, which established its China headquarters in Shanghai in 2006, has long been embedded in the city's running and athletics ecosystem.
Both sides stated they will combine elite competitive resources and brand technological expertise to fuel public participation in sports, supporting Shanghai's ambition to build a world-renowned sports city.
